Medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil is a dietary supplement that can be added to shakes, coffee or tea and food without changing their texture. It is a healthy source for fast energy as MCT oil digests easily, requiring fewer enzymes and bile acids for absorption in the guts. Unlike long-chain triglycerides (LCT), MCTs are absorbed faster and easier, therefore they are not stored in fat cells for energy. If MCTs are not used for energy, they form ketones, which prevent catabolism and support muscle growth.
MCT oil also improves weight loss, as enriching diet with MCTs and reducing intake of other fats (coconut, olive oil) can enhance stored fat reduction in the body. By adding MCT oil to a daily diet, it helps to feel full and satisfied for several hours. Product also provides energy for brain cells and improves brain functions, prevents heart diseases, reduces cholesterol and inflammation, and helps to strengthen immune system.
